Carlos Trench

Director

Drawing on nearly two decades in the global energy sector, Carlos combines a strong grasp of market dynamics with hands-on experience delivering complex, capital-intensive projects. He has lived and worked across Australia, Europe, South America and Asia-Pacific, bringing a practical understanding of how technical, financial and policy systems interact in different markets.

At Rivio, Carlos advises on the structuring of projects and investments that sit at the intersection of technology, infrastructure and capital. His approach blends analytical rigour with commercial pragmatism, connecting the strategic intent of boards and investors with the operational realities of development and delivery.

Before founding Rivio, Carlos led business development for ENGIE Australia’s firming portfolio, originating and developing 5 energy storage projects in Australia and reaching financial close on the country's largest hydrogen/hybrid project. Earlier roles include leading Vicinity Centres’ national solar and battery rollout and managing large energy and petrochemical projects throughout design and delivery with Axens and TotalEnergies across Europe, Asia, Middle East and Latin America.

A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and fluent in English, French and Spanish, Carlos brings a global outlook grounded in technical and commercial depth. He is known for his ability to bridge government, corporate and investor priorities to convert developments into assets.

Carlos is a member of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) Advisory Panel, which operates as an investment review committee.
